Coloured Lamps - Lacquering

Lacquering is used on a finished lamps where colour cannot be achieved with a ceramic.

The majority of lacquers will start to flake in wet conditions or crack with high temperature. In some instances this is acceptable as the lamp is discarded after a function.

We offer three types of lacquering.

High Temperature lacquer is applied to lamps where the wattage is above 40 Watt. The lamps are cured at 180 C ( 350 F) after spraying and in some cases up to 250 C.

This temperature will start the curing reaction into operation. With use the lamp will cure still further.

For Lamps around 25 watts we use a water resistant lacquer giving good adhesion when used in trees in damp conditions.

Where fluorescent tubes are being sprayed it is sometimes more desirable to use an opaque finish.

For the more permanent use of fluorescent tubes where we are unable to ceramic coat, we are able to coat the polycarbonate cover in a special lacquer.

This is applied to the inside so as to give a protective shield to the weather when used externally.

We can also coat the plastic housing of the light fittings to blend into the surroundings and can obtain colour matches to the various Architectural paint specifications.

For customers with large orders of finished lamps we set up standards with the customer to meet their specifications. We are able to offer a boxing service after the lacquering process.

As with our Ceramic lines the majority of our lacquering is produced on our semi-automatic machines to ensure an even spray pattern.

Lacquering is becoming an important part of our business due to the environmental issue of the use of non Cadmium and Lead products. This process is also being applied to bottles.

We are able to carry out humidity testing to check durability.

COLORLITES is on hand to help the customer whether he be large or small in achieving the right colour for the right job. No job is too small for us.
