 Classic Car Run

Universal Applied Coatings a close associate company of ours, has entered a new car into this years Winter Run. Starting from Brooklands on the 27th  January the car will be driven by MD Roy Meekings through France ending up in Barcelona on Wednesday 30th.

The car is a 1958 Austin Healley 100/6

was originally shipped to the USA and then abandoned in the open in 1986.It was acquired from pictures with no interior and bad state. It has been refurbished in the workshops over the last twelve months and included a new paint system enhanced over the system used in the Monte Carlo 1999 rally to protect the car on its arduous journey.

UAC specialises in preparing and coating metalwork for structures going to North Sea Rigs to Computer consoles for large office blocks.

A similar process of blasting and zinc spraying was applied to the repaired metal work, before being converted to right hand drive and being rewired and re fitted.after healey.jpg (243941 bytes)

Day 2 position 22 after the sump lost all the oil and the exhaust broke.

Day 3 position 16 and 1st in their group after a good day.

Final Day position 15 and 1st in their group earned the team a cup. After lunch they sat and enjoyed a well earned drink with their family outside under a warm overhead heater. ( Probably still trying to thaw out after their drive.)
